finally started to do stuff with the secondary using ubuntu. while vista is apparently a hot mess w/ the wifi card, ubuntu has zero problems so i’m using primarily that.

the most astonishing beadwork i’ve seen from walking with our sisters has been the raised beadwork, from northern type folks. there’s an excellent blog about iroquois beading.
really enjoying whipped products. P is of course fascinated by the concept of 420 butter but once I got over my feelings of betraying oyin I got into the reality.
AMAZING performances tonight at IFH by te waha hui, visiting from nz.
and also this prior art thing from Ask Patents.
So yesterday we went to the native american music fest at yerba buena gardens. lots of good music, pomo dancers, powwow dancers, and some beautiful mohawk singing, (from some rather dapper mohawks.)
Then we noticed a big crowd of people at the nearby theater and it turns out that the audience and performers had been turned out of the building holding the ethnic dance festival b/c of a gas leak on folsom street. so there was a huge group of indonesian and desi dancers being taught a dance routine on the spot; a group of senegalese drummers, and my favorite, a freestyle w/ a konnokol singer and one of the african guys w/ a hand drum. awesome.
